about

Our third album, 'Gardeners of the Earth', will be available on August 4th.
With an exclusive edition on translucent green vinyl that you can already purchase in pre-order via:
fuzzedupastromoonrecords.bandcamp.com/music

There are nine tracks that move between various moments and soundscapes, always packed with tribal rhythms, space and fuzzy guitars reverberated in a shimmering drone. Accompanied of course by immersive vocals, matte time for another transparent and smooth.
This album has as its central theme our connection with the ancient, the ancestral. When cosmic gardeners sowed their secret wisdom here. The search for our universal consciousness and mental improvement.

Review's

I hear a lot of intros on albums nowadays and very few of them have any reason to be there. There are some that serve to grab our attention and some that tease us into what's to come, but it's not particularly often that I hear an intro truly nail both those things but Caminho das Pedras is a fair example of an intro that does both. It sets the mood with a hypnotic swirling sitar that takes us all the way back to the late sixties but adds contemporary touches too, before rolling on into the first track proper, which is the title track. We know what we're getting into, we're placed into the right mood to receive it and we flow on into the rest of the album. It's a great start.

White Canyon & the 5th Dimension is back with its fourth full-length release on Fuzzed Up & Astromoon Records. This is a really strong record that combines Eastern and Western elements to great success. You will hear elements of bands like Kikagaku Moyo, Minami Deutsch, and Upupayāma, as well as traditional Western psych outfits like The Black Angels. Strong basslines, twangy guitars, sitar-like tones, steady rhythmic percussion, and reverb comprise this record’s backbone. There are more than a couple of standout tracks here. The acoustic jam “Inner/Outside” chugs along at a great pace. The deep bassline of the title track will shake the house, while “Howling Pines” will get you dancing about. “Fireflies Dance” takes a step back in time with its classic jangly guitar approach. I really dig that twangy desert tone on “Black Holes.” “Ancient Secrets Of Green Leaf” turns into a real banger with its dense guitar riff and the sweet tremolo on the keys. “Harsh Down” is perhaps the most Black Angels moment on the record, and it reminds me a bit of “Manipulation.” If past demand is any indication, you are going to want to get in on this release right away. White Canyon doesn’t mess around with mediocrity.

Traditioneller Psych Rock aus Brasilien.
Aus Brasilien kommend klingen White Canyon & The 5th Dimension schon sehr texanisch. Sie legen denselben wuchtig treibenden Psych Rock wie die Black Angels an, bieten das schlingernde Western-Moment der Night Beats. So auch auf der neuen Platte, der insgesamt dritten LP, „Gardeners Of The Earth“ (Fuzzed up & Astromoon).

White Canyon & The 5th Dimension is a psychedelic group from Brazil that dropped their third studio album in August. They say Gardner’s of The Earth is packed with “tribal rhythms, spacey, and fuzzy guitars reverberated in a shimmering drone.” The vocals are immersive, transparent, and smooth.
The album’s central theme is our connection with the ancient and ancestral, giving the record a psychedelic-spiritual vibe. “When cosmic gardeners sowed their secret wisdom here,” the band says. “The search for our universal consciousness and mental improvement.” I’m not sure if listening to the album enough will help you achieve enlightenment, but you’re damn near guaranteed to enjoy the trippy, heady, and transcendental-like music.

The psych scene is blessed at this moment in time with a handful of bands who are really at the top of their game, releasing a series of magnificent records and playing some stunning gigs over the past few years. White Canyon & The Fifth Dimension are very much up there with the best of them and they now follow 2019's eponymous debut album and 2021's successor, Spectral Illusion, with their third collection, Gardeners of the Earth. The Brazilian duo of Gabriela Zaith and Léo Gudan create music with remarkable fluidity, music that wraps itself around you and grips you tightly; they create sounds you cannot easily shake off which induce you to carry them with you, willingly or otherwise. While the debut album had a shimmering beauty that forced you to surrender, the second had a darker, more mystical edge while retaining all of the grace of its predecessor. Gardeners of the Earth falls somewhere between the two. There is undoubtedly power here, but only in specific places. There is certainly magic here, but it sparkles elusively. Though the album title hints at being caretakers of the earth, the album is not tied to specifics; gardeners nurture a variety of plants and White Canyon produce a variety of sounds, each offering a contribution to the whole. As Léo told us, "The album tries to capture different musical moments and landscapes. We wanted to make a more eclectic record in terms of sound. We don't stick to one line and even the lyricism is diverse. There is no main subject." Of course as this diversity is framed by White Canyon's exquisite attention to detail and their uncanny ability to make their music flow like the deepest of rivers, the differing approaches to the songs do not make for a disjointed record; this is a collection of songs that live very happily together and though it is impossible not to pick up hints of Status Quo, The Doors, The Byrds and even The Mary Chain, everything remains quintessentially WC&TFD. The highlight is 'Ancient Secret of Green Leaf' which overflows with dancing organs, wavering guitars and a huge bass yet is unafraid to show its muscle when challenged. It is part of a tougher side two with 'Harsh Dawn' and 'As Above So Below' both hinting at menace yet gripping you so tightly there is little room for manoeuvre. Maybe this is because side one has already transfixed you with the hypnotic deep psych of the title track and the spiralling organ of 'Howling Pines' that sends your brain spiralling. It's rare that so diverse a record can sound so complete; it's an assortment box of psych delights all wrapped in White Canyon's mystical wiles. Gardeners of the Earth is released by Fuzzed Up & Astromoon on 4th August with an exclusive edition on translucent vinyl and it's going to fly.

Brazilian duo Leo Gurdan and Gabriela Zaith – White Canyon and the 5th Dimension – are back with album number three, this time presented on glorious green vinyl by Dublin based Fuzzed Up And Astromoon records.
The slow and gentle drone and guitar intro hints at the exotic and mystical treats to follow with the bass and drums deep and earthy as they are throughout the album. There’s a warm and lush feel to this record, something that wraps you up in its druggy arms and soothes you, opiated and organic. Underpinning the otherworldly cosmic connection psychedelia there’s a beautiful menace in the tribal drums and almost post punk Banshees-like bass and plenty of moments of thumping psych rock (typified by the thudding dark drive of ‘Howling Pines’ and the fuzzed up soaring ’Harsh Dawn’). The standard psych approach is ignored though – this album twists and turns in various directions while still keeping the overall flow and shamanic vibrations
